Why I’m Loving Green Chef As A Meal Kit Delivery Service
As many of you know, I’ve been going through a significant life change over the past year. I’ve been struggling with the constant mental and emotional rollercoaster ride, and my health and body have suffered. I realized that I was not eating at all, or when I wanted food, I was reaching for comfort food. As tasty as the comfort food was, I knew that my body would pay for it later.
It sure did! I started suffering more and more Fibromylagia flare-ups. With increased body pain came a decrease in exercise, increased brain fog, increased skin issues, and increased depression and anxiety. All of this led to increased systemic inflammation within my body.
During a fibromylagia flare-up, I would load my body with anti-inflammatories like my ginger root and matcha tea, turmeric capsules, bone broth, and CBD oil. I told myself that I would start eating better, but to be honest, that only lasted a couple of days until the flare-up calmed down. Then the vicious cycle started all over again.
Back in May, I had the realization to try one of the meal kit delivery services. So I started researching the meal kit delivery services out there and compiled my list of things I wouldn’t sacrifice.
Since I only eat two meals a day, and my “brunch” of eggs, bacon, sausage, sauerkraut, and pickles were set, I started looking for a meal kit delivery service specializing in dinners.
These are the things I was looking for in a meal kit delivery service:
• Ketogenic dinner meals
• Organic food
• Easy to prepare
• Flexible delivery dates
• Reasonably priced
• Variety of meals to choose from
• Ease of cancellation from week to week
• Meals for two servings
After doing some research, I decided to give Green Chef a try. On May 11th, I ordered my first box and received it a week later, on May 18th. The box was delivered from UPS. I love that the packaging is eco-friendly and made from recyclable, reusable, and/or compostable material.
The cooler/ insulation called ClimaCell that your food arrives in is a plant-based insulator with kraft paper on the outside to hold it together. It is fully recyclable.
The ice packs (you receive two with your order) are filled with soluble, non-toxic gel. You can reuse them or recycle them.
You can read even more about their packaging here.
I made my first meal that night. It was their Pork Chops with Glazed Carrots, Roasted Broccoli, Almonds and Dijon Cider Dressing. I loved how easy it was to prepare. It took me less than 30-minutes from the prep work until it was plated. The Dijon Cider dressing made the pork chops mouth-watering. Every dinner that I have made since then has been excellent.
I’m going into my third week of trying out Green Chef for my dinner meals, and I’m so thankful I gave them a try. I couldn’t be happier.
Here are the reasons why I love Green Chef:
• All food is organic.
• Meals are easy to prepare.
• Meals I have delivered are Ketogenic. Having Ketogenic meals is extremely important to me as eating this way helps decreases inflammation within my body. Less inflammation means decreased fibromylagia flares and all the other side effects that come with the flare-ups.
• Takes the burden off of me to come up with a meal plan, put a grocery list together and go grocery shopping to get the ingredients.
• Zero food is wasted.
• One meal is two servings, so I have leftovers for dinner the following day. One week of four meals gives me enough food for eight meals.
• I get inspiration for my cooking from their recipes.
• It gets me in my kitchen cooking again. Those who know me know that I love being in the kitchen preparing food because it makes me happy.
If you ever wanted to give a meal kit delivery service a try I highly recommend trying out Green Chef.
