Unblock your meridans
Reflexology is a historical practice that has been documented to be used in China and Egypt. It’s based on the principle that there are reflexes in your ears, hands and feet that correlate to every organ, gland and area of the body. By using pressure on the reflex area Reflexology can unblock your meridians in return unblocking Qi (commonly referred to chi- your body’s life force). By unblocking Qi it helps ease tension, improve circulation and promote proper bodily functions.

What is Reflexology?
Reflexology or Zone Therapy is a form of bodywork that focuses on healing the body by activating reflex points on the ears, hands, and feet. It’s based on the principle that there are zones and reflex points that directly correspond to areas of the body, including glands, organs, parts, and different systems within the body.
As an example, the nerve endings in the tip of the big toe correlates to the brain. So if you are suffering from a headache, your therapist might work on your big toe.
Reflexology is a unique method requiring the therapist to use their hands, thumbs, and fingers to stimulate reflex points using alternating pressure, and techniques such as thumb walking, finger walking, hook in and up, and rotation on a reflex. The physical act of applying pressure results in the reduction of stress which promotes physiological changes in the body that empower the mind and body to heal itself.
How Does Reflexology Work?
Within reflexology, the body is divided from head to toe into 10 energy zones. There are five zones on each side of the midline, which runs down the center of the body. Energy is constantly flowing through these zones. The flow of energy terminates in the ears, hands, and feet, forming reflex points.
The right foot represents the right side of the body, and the left foot represents the left side of the body. Where there are organs on both sides of the body, for example, the colon, your ascending part of your colon will be found on the right side, and your descending part of your colon will be found on the left side.
Reflexology is a deeply relaxing therapy that stimulates the circulatory and lymphatic systems. It also helps release blockages in the flow of energy around the body and allows Qi (pronounced “chi” – life force energy) to bring balance (homeostasis) to the body, which will have a positive effect on your health.
What is the Difference Between Reflexology and Massage Therapy?
While a foot massage may feel the same as a reflexology treatment, reflexology will work on areas to promote a healing response to the corresponding glands, organs, parts, and systems of the body.
A foot massage will manipulate muscles, tendons, and ligaments to improve circulation and range of motion, relieve pain, heal injuries, and promote rest and relaxation.
